5-27-25 THOUGHTS
We pick up where we left off yesterday. Again, it’s IN THE LORD THAT WE REJOICE! The idea of CONTENTMENT is one we all need to seriously consider. 2Pet 1:4b “... you may become partakers of [the] divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world by lust.” Our desire for worldly things wars against our ability to be CONTENT! Jas 1:8 says
“A double minded man [is] unstable in all his ways.” We are back to the “One Thing-Focus” discussion. If we set our minds on things above, contentment comes more naturally. We step away from LUST by filling ourselves with SPIRITUAL GOOD! This Church is the battle of our age and culture. If our efforts are paltry, we can trace the root to this problem most always. I must do some self-examination! The old kids song says... “It’s a fight and not a game...”
Php 4:10-13 But I rejoiced in the Lord greatly, that now at last you have revived your concern for me; indeed, you were concerned before, but you lacked opportunity. 11 Not that I speak from want, for I have learned to be content in whatever circumstances I am. 12 I know how to get along with humble means, and I also know how to live in prosperity; in any and every circumstance I have learned the secret of being filled and going hungry, both of having abundance and suffering need. 13 I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.
My Prayer:
Father, remove all from our lives that fights against our being content in You! You, O God, have given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness. Teach us contentment in this. May we learn to discern the value in things. Help us to see long-term rather than short. May we learn to be wise and not foolish. May we belong to You, O God, and not to the world. We lift You up with praise and thanksgiving. Help us to strive after You with our whole being.
In the name of our Lord, Amen.
